5 Things I Wish I Would Have Known Before Going On Safari In Africa.

I have had the incredible opportunity to spend two weeks at the renowned Singita Lodges in South Africa. I can attest to the transformative experience of going on safari in Africa - from the majestic landscapes, the mesmerizing wildlife encounters, to the unparalleled luxury of the Singita Lodges. The combination of raw nature to first class accommodations create an unforgettable journey that exceeds every expectation. In this journal entry, I'll share some valuable insights and tips that I wish I had known before embarking on this remarkable safari adventure.

Pack less, then even less than that! With daily complimentary laundry service, you need 3 safari outfits TOPS. No more than one sundress because no one dresses for dinner while on safari. My laundry was washed, dried and carefully folded and then hand delivered each day. A testimony to how much delicate care that Singita gives their guests.

Finish in Cape Town if possible (rather than start) because you're going to want to shop. However, the weight limits are very strict for safari flights so you won't have the flexibility to buy what you want if you start our adventure in Cape town.

The current exchange is 19 to 1!!! So go crazy....order all the things, go on a shopping spree, get a massage at every lodge. The spas at Singita Serengeti are havens for you to unwind and feel restored. All services are customized, you start by selecting a signature scent that best fits you and your needs, then you select what feels right for your body in that moment. This allows for a truly tailored made massage, they offer a selection of treatments designed to restore your body’s natural balance and soothe away your stresses.

They will let you take morning lattes on game drives (5am wakeup call) so get ‘em to go, if you're not a morning person like me. About an hour into the drive I was so thankful to have extra lattes to dip into. I didn't realize until day 4 I could do that haha....this also applies to wine on the afternoon drives. They will even pack you snacks for your the road, and who doesn’t love snacks! You are never hungry or thirsty while you are with Singita, they truly cater to your every need.

Don't pack sunscreen or bug spray....they'll have all that in the rooms for you. Singita truly caters to your every need, from small essentials to all the ingredients for a afternoon room cocktail, you will have all that you need.

True luxury is in the details, and it is details at which Singita Lodge excels at. From personal greetings from the staff to the wines of South Africa proudly uncorked before you, every minute of your enjoyment is looked after.
